Hong Kong - Praya and Inland District Water Supply.
I have the honour to submit Report on the scarcity of water caused by deficient rainfall in 1901 and the steps taken to tide over the difficulty.
During the year 1901-1902 the rainfall was the second lowest on record, accounting to 54.40 inches as compared with the average of 80 my inches. The effect of this inadequate rainfall upon the water supply was probably intensified by the low rainfalls of the three preceding years which accounted to 50.02, 72.09 and 70.70 inches respectively, all considerably below the average.
That, during 1901, only one of the Storage Reservoirs (Pokfulam) overflowed, the two, Tai Tam and Wong Nai Chung Reservoirs never having been full.
